I haven’t taken a language course since high school, when I studied Spanish for two years. It would be fair to say that learning languages isn’t something I’ve spent a lot of time on (unless you count computer software languages, of which I know quite a few) - but that’s soon to change. In an effort to prime my brain for learning a new language (something I’ll have to do when I go overseas with the Peace Corps), I’ve been spending some time learning Esperanto.

It’s been two weeks since I accepted my invitation to serve in The Gambia this July with the Peace Corps. Even though I have all along planned to accept my invite and go wherever the Peace Corps wanted to send me, for some reason the act of actually accepting the invite has somehow changed things, made everything much more real than they were before.
