Ow, my head, it hurts!

Basically, I’ve been spending the last week pounding my way through massive quantites of prep questions for the LSAT. I haven’t had any other obligations, so it’s cool: I’m not slacking in my responsibilities here. Just trying to get a kick-start, if you will. I’ve spent at least three, sometimes five or six, hours a day going over problem sets, especially in the Logical Reasoning section, on account that of the four sections to the LSAT, two of them are of this type.

Ya know, I wasn’t going to write anything about this week, ’cause frankly, I haven’t done much. But my brother IM’d me to tell me he was getting “update withdrawl,” so I figured I’d give y’all your fix.

I went to see my first football game yesterday afternoon at the Independence Stadium, about a five minute walk from my house. Pretty sweet. The Gambia was up against Mali, and fortunately - really, I don’t know how it would have turned out otherwise - The Gambia won, two to one.

I’ve had my little Rhythm now for a full week, this hour. It’s been crazy busy with all kinds of things needing to be done that I’d never thought I’d have to do, until the time I figured to settle down with a beautiful lady whence suddenly I’d be surrounded by all these little Matts running around all over the place. That is to say, I feel like a parent.

To the Vet in Abuko

This morning I brought Rhythm to the Veterinary Department in Abuko, on the way south to Brikama just before Lamin. Rhythm didn’t like the gele ride very much - although I think primarily she doesn’t like riding in the bucket in which I’ve been carrying her (yeah, I carry her in a bucket everywhere. If she’s awake she just starts crying and trying to get out). She’s a real pain in the ass to travel with right now, being too young to walk any real distance on her own, but active enough to cry her head off. Ugh :/.

It’s a Friday evening, about six o’clock. You exit out of the Peace Corps office on Kairaba Avenue, and start making your way to the Stodge. You walk about a hundred feet before you hear a high-pitched whine coming from the gutter to your right. Looking down, you see a mama dog, who runs off when she sees you. The source of the whine, however, remains: a little, ten-inch puppy, crawling her way through garbage. What do you do?

My Alarm Clock

Every morning, I wake up at five. Five. That’s AM: it’s still dark out. Why, you might ask, why would someone wake up so early every morning? This question is one you might ask unless you have the pleasure of living close to a mosque (such as yours-truly).

Hey mom, here’s that post you’ve been waiting for :). This is GTTI, the Gambia Technical Training Institute. They have divisions in different areas of Kombo, but I work at their Kanifing location. I currently teach several sessions of an Introductory C Programming course three days a week, but that should soon be augmented with two other courses, one in Internet Development, and one in Windows Application Development.
